Count Your Blessings (3/1/2025)

By

One. Thank you Father God for sending your one and only Son.

Two. I’m so grateful to be made brand new.

Three. Each morning I wake up, I can wiggle my toes. Can breathe on my own. You give me the vision to see.

Four. Thank you for loving me, even in my mess. This is a type of love I’ve never known before.

Five. Jesus, you’ve walked me through some difficult seasons. Without you, I couldn’t survive.

Six. You’ve given me a new beat. I now live to a different sound of music.

Seven. Your word says that you’re preparing a room for me. Until then, help me to continue to do your will on earth as it is in heaven.

Eight. Thank you, for I’m fearfully and wonderfully made. You make no mistakes.

Nine. You call me a masterpiece. Even with cracks and scars, I’m your unique design.

Ten. Each day I will resume counting my blessings, as my story continues to be written with your Heavenly pen.

-Rose

Count your blessings. Each morning that we get to open our eyes to see another day is a blessing. For those who may struggle to think of ways you have been blessed, start with that one. Of course I can think of more than 10 blessings from God, but then this poem would turn into a novel. 😂

Each morning I wake up, I first start by saying, “Thank you Lord for waking me up this morning.” As I wiggle my toes and fingers I am immediately thankful. I am always reminded of a former co-worker who woke up paralyzed one morning. He went to bed healthy and the next day he couldn’t move. I never want to take the most simplest thing for granted. When I take a breath, I’m grateful that I am able to breathe on my own. When I was younger, around 11 years old, I remember playing on the monkey bars. These monkey bars weren’t your normal ones that are straight. The ones we had went up and then down, like a roller coaster. So there was a higher point on these monkey bars. I was a tomboy in my younger years. I enjoyed being outside everyday, ripping and running the streets. Getting dirty. On this day, I was by myself at the park. As I climbed up the ladder and grabbed the first bar, the incline began. For a little challenge, I decided to try and skip multiple bars by jumping from the bottom of the incline to the highest point of the monkey bars. There were about four bars to skip to reach that high point. What was I thinking? I was thinking I could do it. Piece of cake. When you’re a kid, you laugh at the face of danger. 😂

I began to swing my body back and forth to gain momentum and prepare for the jump. When I felt confident enough I was ready. I went for it and I missed the bar completely. I fell about six feet down flat on my back. It literally knocked the wind out of me. I couldn’t breathe. I was alone. I was scared. As I struggled to gasped for air, I thought this was the end of my life. I kept trying to breathe. After a few minutes I was able to take in air again. I’m so thankful because it could have been worse.

Today, I’m truly blessed and thankful that I don’t have any permanent damage from that fall. God is good. I encourage you to go about your day and think about all the ways you have been blessed and thank God. Look around you. That’s it right there, you are able to look. You have sight to see. For those who cannot see, thank God that you can feel. You can feel the warm or cool breeze against your skin as the wind is blowing. If you can’t feel then thank God that you can taste. You can taste flavors of different foods as you enjoy a prepared meal. If you can’t taste then thank God that you can hear. Go out in nature and listen to the beauty around you of birds chirping, water flowing, etc. If you can’t hear then be thankful for just being alive. There is someone out there literally struggling to breathe and taking their last breath. Always choose to find joy in the midst of challenges. Each day, count your blessings.

✝️“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.”
